Way over torqued my lugs
Left oil dripping from my truck
I used to like this location for an easy oil change.
Today I had my oil changed and tires rotated it seems there was some confusion on the torque specs of my lug nuts. The supervising tech told the other technician to torque my lug nuts to 150 pounds. I questioned it and he told me that according to my tire size this was the correct torque.
This didn't sit right with me so I contacted my mechanic and my tire installer, I am fairly competent with cars myself
In fact the correct torque is 97 lb for aluminum alloy wheels on a 2019 tundra
150 lb would apply only to steel wheels.
In short my lug nuts were over torqued by 50%
This can cause damage to aluminum wheels brakes or cause lug nuts to sheer off, ect
I reached out to customer service to recommend they update their information that it is incorrect and to file a claim Incase damage turned up, I later got a call back from I assume the local supervising tech who stood by his guns of over torquing.
I'm now going to have to have everything inspected wish I had gone somewhere else or done it myself.
