Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Inconsistent, closes early, not great service at all, rude employees

I brought my 2018 BMW X5 xDrive35i to this Valvoline on 1/29/26 for a routine oil change and paid $152.43. Before service, my vehicle had no oil leaks, which was confirmed by their initial inspection report. A trainee worked on my vehicle during the service. After the oil change, I was suddenly told my car had an oil leak and was given a second inspection printout that directly contradicted the first. I drove straight home and immediately found fresh oil pooling in my driveway, which continued to worsen overnight while the car was parked. When I returned, I was told the drain plug was cross-threaded. That explanation later changed to the damage being “pre-existing,” despite no leak prior to service and no disclosure before reinstalling the plug. I was then sent to BMW and told to contact Corporate. BMW’s inspection resulted in an estimated $5,000 in required repairs related to oil leakage and associated damage. Valvoline Corporate later attempted to minimize the issue by saying reimbursement was “at the discretion of the shop,” even though this damage appeared immediately after their service. Between poor workmanship, contradictory documentation, and shifting explanations to avoid responsibility, this was one of the worst automotive service experiences I’ve had. A simple oil change turned into thousands of dollars in damage. If you value your vehicle—especially a BMW or any car requiring care—do not trust this location.
