I went to Valvoline located on 1821 Montford Drive Charlotte, 28209 for a routine oil change after for about 6pm. It went very quickly. They finished the oil change and Akio gave my my sticker for the windshield and guided me out did not say anything else other than "All set". The whole appointment took about 30 minutes. I could tell they were ready to close out the garage and get me out as soon as possible. I was about 5 minutes from the Valvoline, when, while I was driving, there was a huge thud and an incredibly loud, scraping sound coming from the car. I pulled over immediately and looked under my car. There was a metal plate that was partially fallen from my car and dragging on the ground as I was driving. I called the Valvoline immediately because I knew they closed at 7pm and I had no other option but to head back to the Valvoline to prevent damage to the metal piece dragging across the road and being damaged. The number to call is an automated system and when asking to speak to someone at the store, it transferred me to an answering machine, no one at that Valvoline was picking up. I tried my best to drive cautiously (while this metal piece was dragging on the road being damaged) back to the Valvoline hoping the were still there. I pull up and the staff, closing the shop look less then enthused as they were closing the doors. The employee guided me in and barely said anything to me, he went below the car and started working on it. Another employee said that the skid plate had been damaged and bent (yeah, it was just dragging across the road because it was not fastened correctly and fell on my way home ) and he wasn't sure that they would be able to put it back on. I pulled my receipt out from my oil change and in the bottom left hand corner there is a comment that the skid plate is damaged and loose upon arrival. Which I thought was odd because the employee had not said one word to me about this being a problem, that the skid plate could potentially fall at anytime while I am driving, or mention this hazard to me at all; which is completely negligent. If this was an issue (which it was), I should have been informed as a large metal piece falling from under my car at any time could cause a serious accident. Another employee said that the skid plate had been previously zip tied and I should go back to the last place I had my oil changed and have them take a look at it. I explained that the last garage to do my oil change was this one, I have been going to the same Valvoline for my oil changes. They explained that the skid plate is too bent now... and wont go back on the car no matter how many methods they tried. The employee came up from working below my vehicle and barely said a word when I was asking more questions and I told him I saw the comment he wrote in and he never said anything to me about it. He was less than responsive, and hurrying me out. I said no, I told him that his other employee said that I should take to the previous place that did the oil change and I asked him to look that up for me. He did and said "I've only been here 3 months and you were here in May", and that was it. As if that resolves Valvoline of responsibility some how because he was not working there at the time. I could have been in an accident or damaged my car even more than a skid plate.. what a joke this place is.
