“Alexis” the store manager ran an inspection on my car without my permission not to mention my car was not due for one for another 6months. She claimed my car failed and then could not tell me WHY which legally she has to - I may not know cars but I know that. She told me to take the car anyway and come back to try again I repeat she could not tell me what part of the inspection or why my car failed. Claimed it could be because I had to jump start or maybe got a new battery but I told her neither of those things did I have to do. On top of that she said she wasn’t going to charge for the inspection but then charged a “miscellaneous labor charge” that is conveniently the exact cost of an inspection. During our entire interaction she was scoffing and chuckling about the state of my car which to my knowledge is in great shape. After my visit, my boyfriend called the shop and instead of her explaining what the miscellaneous labor charge was for she didn’t have a reason. He also confronted her about the way she talked about my tire rotation claiming it was more expensive for my 4Runner because it was so difficult to do, which is BS because my car is nowhere near a beach so it doesn’t take using a hammer to bang off the rust to get the bolts out, but even then they don’t charge extra for that because it’s just part of rotating tires. She had no counter argument as to why she was charging me more. I was offered a refund for the miscellaneous labor charge however, when I went back to the shop to get my refund, I overheard her speaking poorly about me and my boyfriend and saying how sometimes it’s just easier to give a refund than deal with difficult clients. To me it seemed way too convenient that the miscellaneous charge was the exact price of the inspection I shouldn’t have even gotten in the first place and she couldn’t even explain why I “failed the inspection.” Seems to me she’s just mad that she got caught for being a shady business woman. So for all of those who go see Alexis at the Valvoline in Cornelius, be sure to know exactly what you’re getting charged and if it ever says miscellaneous, it’s a whole lot of crap. I mean she can’t even explain what the miscellaneous charge is even for, she’s just taking advantage of you for not knowing as much about your car or cars in general.
