I had a great experience with my oil change today! the guy who helped me let me know what all he was doing and why he was doing it so I could make the decisions myself. He didn’t assume I knew everything but also didn’t talk down to me when explaining what all needed to be done. He showed me the filters oil level and check list of what all the computer suggested be done. They weren’t pushy or trying to sell me something more trying to inform me about the car and did only what I asked for. (Which you would hope is the norm but I find rarely happens.) He asked for permission to access my car and was polite when getting close to my window to ask questions, which made me feel comfortable. The team worked efficiently and this was a much nicer experience than I have had with other places, including other Valvoline places. We couldn’t figure out how to reset my dash light but thats no big deal. I will come back if I need my oil changed again.

Horrible place for a young woman to take a car for work. They bought a simple oil change air filter change by install installing the air filter upside down, which caused debris to get through the system and caused about $5000 worth of damage. We’ve had three shops verify that the air filter was installed incorrectly, so I have no reason to doubt that they caused the issue. Now they’re rude to her won’t return her phone calls and her simply hoping that she will go away. Maybe I can get one of them to call me before I go down there in person tomorrow. But what mostly will happen is after I visit them tomorrow they will have to be sued for sexual discrimination and for damage.

Today I visited the Valvoline location in Garner off 40/42 (Exit 312), and my experience was extremely disappointing and concerning. From the moment I arrived, several employees were behaving unprofessionally—playing around and using highly inappropriate and vulgar language. What was most disturbing was hearing staff make degrading comments about people with autism and Down syndrome. That kind of language is unacceptable in any setting, especially in a customer-facing business. When checking out, I agreed to receive my receipt via email, but it did not arrive until well after my appointment. Because I wanted documentation of the service, I requested a printed receipt and was told the printer was down. I also asked for an oil change reminder sticker, only to be told that printer was also not working. As I was being rushed out, my oil light had not been reset. When I brought this up, the employee said she didn’t know how to reset it and proceeded to fumble around my dashboard without success. No one in the shop knew how to reset the oil light. I ultimately had to look up a video myself—something I should not have to do after paying for a service. Overall, this location appears to be staffed by very young, inexperienced employees who lack professionalism and proper training. There needs to be an adult manager present at this location. Given everything that occurred, I am genuinely concerned about whether my oil change was even performed correctly. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this location.
