Positive: Always professional and kind. They are to be commended for the fidelity with which they approach the company policies. I love how regimented they are to annouce things, state what they are doing, get a second look at a dipstick, etc.
It's awesome.
So, why the star reduction? Simple. I have reason to believe they are trying to take advantage of customers. I bought full synthetic oil, and when they put a sticker on, it's for 3,000 miles. Cmon. That's playing games (worse than the air filter scam; at least that can be considered misleading, rather than lying).
They can't swing a computer screen to me and show recommended oil for me, and then, 10-15 minutes later do something like that, as though you don't know what the specs are. The computer can figure out what the correct mileage is.
There is not a new car on the market that requires a 3,000 mile oil change when using full synthetic. So, I know they are playing games.
Let's do the math: Let's say that of every 10 cars that come in, even half fall for that BS. If so, get an oil change between 2,000-5,000 miles early, depending on driving habits (which one is not ask). Now do the math on that over time. And then multiply that by the number of drivers that fall for that.
THAT is taking advantage of people. This is one of the least trustworthy industries, and so behavior like this will, I believe, burn you in the long run. I will share my experience, both good and bad. Prob will hurt you, but oh well. This practice is underhanded, and they know it.
Thing is, I DO know it, so I just don't fall for it, but I will make sure others know what they are up to. I will stick to my car manual, and annually, I will get my free oil change at the dealer. When I must get it elsewhere, I will prob still choose valvoline, but only because I know the game--including that silly coupon one.
If another place opens near me I can trust, well, I would have no problem leaving Valvoline. What goes around comes around.

We're sorry for any confusion about the reminder sticker. Our stickers default to 3,000 miles or 3 months, but you can follow your manufacturer's recommended interval if you use the recommended oil. We appreciate hearing from our guests about how we can do better, and we'll be happy to pass along your comments to our management team.
