I have to say buyer beware. I went to Valvoline to get an oil change and replace a light bulb. The night prior the car struggle to start so I assumed it was the battery but figured I'm going to Valvoline anyhow and they do a 15-point check when they do a standard oil change top off your fluids so I figured I'll let them check it. When I got there they told me my battery was dead and that I needed to replace it. He even said he checked it three separate times and it was dead. Financially I thought it might be a better move to go to an auto parts place and pick up a battery there.
I went to the auto parts place and they were shocked that I was charged $6 to top off the radiator fluid, As they said that's part of the oil change, and then they said you might want to check that battery because they will rip you off and sure enough the system came back saying the battery was 100% charged and that the alternator was perfect but that it was a starter that was failing. They were lying to me to get me to pay for a battery !!! I feel bamboozled! I am not happy about this and I feel that women are usually taken advantage of in this situation. Thank God for the honest people at advance Auto. I am going to include the system check they did on my battery from the auto parts place to prove that my battery was fine. So disappointing! I know that Valvoline will try and justify the fact that they charged me to top off my fluids which they advertise is one of the highlights of their services, they have no excuse for telling me I needed a battery for $260 when the reality was I did not need a battery at all. This sales person said he checked it three times! I brought it over to the auto parts place and it passed as you can see on the receipt I have forwarded. So even though Valvoline will try to justify the $6 additional charge for topping off my fluids which is a feature of their oil change it doesn't excuse their gouging prices and getting $250 from me for a battery that was totally unnecessary.
