Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Seems this store changed their Saturday hours and didn't tell anyone, even their own corporate office. They now open at 7:30am, per a store employee.

Valvoline Germantown Totaled My Car While Parking It After an Oil Change Note: This review was too long for a single post; see the text attachments for the entire review. Part One of Five: On August 21, 2025 around 12:30PM, I took my Acura RDX for an oil change and tire rotation to this location of Valvoline Oil at 7607 Poplar Ave, Germantown, TN 38138. I have used this location for the past twenty years for these services. My co-worker accompanied me in the vehicle. After I pulled my vehicle into the first service bay on the south side of the building, Valvoline employee “L” told me that the work would take around 30 or 45 minutes to complete due to the tire rotation. I handed over my keys, and my coworker and I exited my vehicle while the services were completed. When we returned at 1:18PM, I found my vehicle parked in Valvoline’s rear parking lot bordering Germantown Hardware. The driver’s airbag was deployed, and the windshield was cracked. Pieces of my vehicle’s front bumper, paneling, and passenger wheel well liner were strewn in the parking lot. The light pole on the west side of Valvoline’s border with Jones Auto leaned from the impact. Limbs and leaves from the holly bushes surrounding this light pole were embedded in the front and passenger side panel crevices of my vehicle, while the bush’s structure and the pole gouged deep scratches in the front and passenger side panels and doors in the portions not sheared off at impact. The pictures attached to this review attest to the level of damage my vehicle sustained in the crash. In a state of disbelief, I walked to the Valvoline building in order to get an employee’s attention. Valvoline employee “S” apologized for the crash and informed me that employee “E” had mistaken the gas pedal for the brake while parking my car after service was completed. “S” told me to expect a phone call from Valvoline refunding my oil change and tire rotation charges, and that the location’s manager Davis “Buddy” Daniel was on his way to the store. I called the police. When they arrived, the Germantown Police interviewed me and the Valvoline employees present. Their police report states “Vehicle 1 had been dropped off by its owner for an oil change [. . .] Vehicle 1 was then driven into a light pole on the west side of the property.” I have attached the narrative portion and incident illustration from the police report to this review, and I have redacted individually-identifying information.
