I recently changed my front CV axle and lost some gear oil in the process. I didn’t want to buy a whole pint of gear fluid and pump to put some in myself, so I brought my car into Valvoline to have it topped off. The gear oil was changed within the last 15000 miles, so I didn’t want to pay $100 for a full drain and fill. I was willing and expecting to pay for the service to top off my gear oil, but they said they would only do a drain and fill. It just seems kinda silly that I was there and willing to pay for a service, but they refused. They have the oil, pump, and a customer who’s willing to pay. It was kinda funny to see the chaos from me asking for a non routine service. I went through 2 techs who couldn’t figure out how to charge me. Then they had to call a manager who told them that they would only do a drain and fill. It seemed to me that they really just couldn’t figure out how or what to charge for a simple service so they punted me. But rather than gain a customer and top it off they just sent me away. I would have bought the crew pizza or something but they elected to just send me away. It was pretty frustrating. I gave two stars because the first two techs I talked to were super nice. I’m sure these guys are fine at routine services, but the floor supervisor seems like he’s in a role that’s not well suited for him.

I went in for an oil change, and they told me the transmission fluid also needed to be changed. I agreed. After removing several parts from the vehicle and making me wait a long time, they came back and said they couldn’t do the service because too many components had to be removed and they were “not a mechanic shop.”
Why offer a service you don’t even know how to perform? Why waste customers’ time?
To make matters worse, they didn’t even reset the vehicle, so I left with the oil change light still on. The price wasn’t cheap either.
I will not be coming back, and I would not recommend putting your vehicle in the hands of these amateurs.
