I went to Valvoline to have my fluids checked and topped off if needed. They checked my oil and said it didn’t need any, but they did top off other fluids. Later that day, when I returned home, my husband noticed that my car appeared to be leaking something. Since it had snowed the day before, I assumed it was melting snow or possibly leftover fluid that may have spilled while they were topping off the fluids, so I didn’t think much of it at the time.
Over the next few days, the leaking continued, and my husband mentioned that he thought it might be oil. We have a very clean driveway, so any leak is noticeable. I immediately thought about my recent visit to Valvoline and how they had told me my oil level was fine. I began to wonder if something underneath the car may have been accidentally loosened during the service, causing the leak.
I asked my husband if I should take the car back so they could recheck the fluids to see if any levels had dropped. When I finally had time to return, I explained to them when the leaking had started. The woman yelled out a name for someone to come upstairs, and when he arrived, he immediately said that my oil gasket strip was leaking. He said that it's something that happens over time. However, it started the same day I went to Valvoline, it's just very coincidental for my liking. Now my check engine light has come on and my car is not working.
