Disappointed with the full-service oil change. Valvoline advertises chassis lubrication where applicable as part of the service, but when I specifically asked whether my vehicle had been greased, I was told they would have greased it but they were out of grease.
What concerns me even more is that my inspection report says “Lubrication Points — Sealed.” A maintenance inspection should be based on what's actually on the vehicle, not simply what the manufacturer installed when the vehicle was new. Vehicles get older and parts get replaced. Replacement ball joints, tie-rod ends and other components may have grease fittings even if the original parts were sealed. Technicians should actually look underneath the vehicle and check for grease fittings where applicable.
If I hadn't specifically asked about greasing, I would have left without knowing it hadn't been done. And I don't understand how a shop specializing in oil changes and preventive maintenance is simply “out of grease.” That's a basic maintenance supply that should be kept in stock, with backup inventory, just like oil.
For what this service costs, I expect the advertised maintenance items to actually be performed and the inspection report to reflect what is physically on the vehicle—not just a default in a computer.
